the title of this post, despite all appearances, actually took ages…
So basically, we’ve still not settled on a name for this thing 😅
What started as an idea to convert our retro caravan into a lovely little coffee bar, has led to this! We ran into some unforeseen issues with the caravan, postponing the project until we can afford to put some more time and money into it. And we announced in April, in our last blog post (sorry about that!), that we were instead going to launch a mobile cart for our mushroom coffees and herbal concoctions in the meantime.
This went incredibly well, considering back in April neither of us even knew how to use an espresso machine!
Although we definitely had more than a few misses along the way, and pretty much no spare time, we’ve had a lot of success in a lot of places.
So much so, we’ve been out almost every weekend since, pitching up at different markets and festivals to find our niche and figure out our strengths, and it’s quickly become the main source of income for KindRoots.
Upto now we’ve been operating it as a mushroom coffee & herbal tea bar, but we realised we need an evening offer for when people stop wanting tea and coffee, so now we’re developing a range of herbal mocktails, and raw cacao ‘hot chocolates’ too. So by the start of next season we’ll be running a Mushroom Coffee, Herbal Tea, Botanical Mocktails and Hot Chocolate drinks cart/bar/caravan, with a health and foraged ingredients twist, and not suprisingly, we’re struggling to condense that down into a meaningful name we can both agree on! So for now, its just ‘The Bar’.
We’re Barista’s now, apparently.
Just like that, we now run a mobile health drinks bar, and if some of the reviews are to be believed, we appear to be pretty good at it!
We’ve even managed to get into a couple of big festivals this year, namely ‘The Bushcraft Show’, and ‘One Love, One Sun’, and honestly we had a blast. We’ve met some awesome people, honourable mention to the cast of ‘Naked And Afraid’, one of which said ours was the best hot chocolate he’s ever had! It made it quite clear to us this is what we want to be doing, and it works, the people we’ve met love our drinks!
So this is what we do now, you’ll regularly see us popping up around Staffordshire over the winter serving delicious coffee, herbal remedies and some proper hot chocolate.

The Caravan
Its still the plan to get this beauty on the road next year, ready for hitting festivals in the summer, hopefully with a name…
There’s still a fair bit of work to do, but its getting there, and it’ll look great when its finished. After starting this project nearly a year ago we’re very much looking forward to being able to finish it off and make some use of it. Plus, there should be plenty of space to offer hot drinks, cold drinks and maybe a variety of foraged snacks to go along with your drink of choice 😉
So Yeah, ‘The Bar’…
I think that pretty much sums up the bar, its in a permanent state of flux, forged in chaos, and we’re never entirely sure which way its gonna go or where we’ll end up. But we always meet some cool people, and see some cool stuff along the way, so it’s all worth it in the end!
